If you would like to research an old Vienna property, here is a helpful list of things you can do, and websites you can search on, to get the information you are looking for.
Check the Fairfax County Tax database for initial information on the property.

It usually takes a visit to County Archives to figure out old deeds, wills and other records. The staff are knowledgeable and their website has helpful information.
Consult the Fairfax County Historic Records Center:

An invaluable resource for history researchers in the County is the Virginia Room of the Fairfax County Public Library’s City of Fairfax branch. Knowledgeable staff are usually on hand to assist.

You can also search the property address using Zillow or Redfin as there might be information (of photos) on the house.

If you are interested in adding your property, or someone’s property, to the Historic Registry here is the process to follow.
Submit an application directly to the Town of Vienna, which then has a specific timeline in which to act. They send it to HVI for our evaluation and we send back our decision. Visit the Town’s website under Parks & Rec for additional information.
