This exhibit tells the story of the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department which Leon Freeman began in 1903. He served as its first chief and remained active in the Department until 1936. Its original apparatus was stored underneath the porch of his store, now the Freeman Store & Museum, located at 131 Church Street NE. In1958, the Fire Department constructed its present facility at 400 Center Street, S. The department currently owns and maintains the property and station facilities.
